Active Matter Beginner Guide

Everything a new operative needs to know to start raiding, from confirmed mechanics only.

In Active Matter you are an operative stuck in a time loop. Your employer sends you into quantum-unstable zones where several timelines overlap. Time anchors pull the zone back to our reality and isolate it for a limited time — you must extract yourself and your loot before the entire area disappears.

The core loop

  1. Prepare in your base — expand your base and workshop, manage your stash and gear.
  2. Enter a raid — go solo or in a small squad into a quantum-unstable zone.
  3. Gather active matter & loot — explore, fight and complete objectives in PvPvE encounters.
  4. Extract in time — reach extraction before the zone collapses, or lose what you carry.
  5. Repeat and push on — spend your haul in the workshop and upgrade for the next run.

First-step tips

  • Treat other operatives as your most dangerous enemy — the official description says so.
  • Watch the timer: extraction zones stay isolated only for a limited time.
  • Expect anomalies: active matter bends gravity and space, and hostile creatures and robots spawn in altered zones.
  • Keep the risk in mind: not everything you carry survives when you die — see the loot guides.
